Imparare dai pazienti

Franco era molto umile e pronto ad apprendere dai pazienti. Aveva sempre come un’attitudine di interesse, curiosità, era come se quel che il paziente poteva portare fosse sempre tutto nuovo, qualcosa da scoprire. Penso che riuscisse ad ascoltare per il piacere della novità, l’idea che ci fosse qualcosa da aspettarsi nell’incontro con l’altra persona. E quindi era molto aperto a imparare, a capire o meglio a non capire, a poter stare con l’altro anche senza capire. Per imparare che cosa succede, come una persona si muove e poi risolve, ma senza ansia di aiutare e senza senso di colpa per la propria possibile inadeguatezza.

Learning from patients

Franco was very humble and quick to learn from patients. He had always an attitude of interest, curiosity; it was as if what the patient could bring was always completely new, something to discover. I think he was so good at listening for the pleasure of novelty, the idea that there was something to expect from the encounter with the other person. So he was very open to learn, to understand or better still to not understand, to being with the other also doing without understanding. To learn what happens, how a person moves and solves problems, but without feeling any pressure to help or any guilt feelings for his own potential limits.
